Faye McMillen:

I am a part time Caregiver. On August 30th, 2017,I received a text that had included my full name. They were asking me if I was still taking new Clients as a Caregiver. Gave me her name and said her Mother-In-Law was moving back to Cullman, Alabama (where I live) next month and would be needing a Caregiver. She indicated she was sending the text thru "hearing impaired". I replied back and told her "yes" and ask her how she found how about me. She replied back but still did not say how she heard of me. She said her name is Anna Woodrow. When I ask her twice how she heard about me, she quit texting and I have not heard from her again. Not sure what they expected to gain by asking me about being a Caregiver.

As with other texts, He offers to buy boat in less than 10 seconds sight unseen, but has to pay thru paypal because he is in the air force. I've got the exact same text from other numbers which have been tracked on this site.

An unwanted call from this St. Petersburg FL VOIP number arrived today. When the answering machine picked up, a recorded message purported to be from AAA and requested a member satisfaction survey.

Posters report this is actually a company called Sterling Research, not AAA itself. Even if AAA outsources surveys to this company, why in the hell would they resort to robocalling to do this? AAA has the e-mail addresses of its customers and can solicit their views far more economically and reliably, instead of pissing off its customers with robocalls. Vexatious robocalling is a sure way to lose customers. It may have just lost me.

ALERT: If Your Phone Rings Once Then Goes Silent, Here’s The One Thing You Need To Do

Here’s how it works: Scammers are using auto-dialers to call cell phone numbers across the country. Scammers let the phone ring once — just enough for a missed call message to pop up.
The scammers hope you’ll call back, either because you believe a legitimate call was cut off, or you will be curious about who called. If you do, chances are you’ll hear something like, “Hello. You’ve reached the operator, please hold.” All the while, you’re getting slammed with some hefty charges — a per-minute charge on top of an international rate. The calls are from phone numbers with three-digit area codes that look like they’re from inside the U.S., but actually are associated with international phone numbers — often in the Caribbean.

If you get a call like this, don’t pick it up and don’t call the number back. There’s no danger in getting the call: the danger is in calling back and racking up a whopping bill.

Is this a scam area number

This scammer calls numbers on the national do not call list in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. They further violate the TCPA by failing to have an operator on the line when the call is answered, and still further by playing a recorded message without an operator on the line. The operator refuses to provide a phone number when asked, violating the TCPA, and hangs up when asked for an address, still further violating the TCPA. The recording states that the victim has been selected for a guaranteed low-interest loan with no credit or background check and no collateral. This is clearly a scam, as no legitimate financial institution would market this way or provide a loan under those conditions. Do not provide this scammer with any financial information.

The caller said he had a refund for me from some software I ordered that did not work. He said he needed to remove the software using a program called TeamViewer, which gave him access to my computer. When he started looking at files that had nothing to do with a refund or the program in question, I turned off the power; he then announced that I had been hacked, that all my bank accounts would be accessed and drained and that he had put a password on my computer so I could not access it. Bank accounts are so far okay; I have spent over a day informing everyone possible of my hack; the password was real; no way to get by it; my tech guy is fixing. Don't let this guy into your computer. I recommend not letting anyone access your computer via on-line. Take your computer to a reputable storefront and deal face to face!

This scammer calls numbers on the national do not call list in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. They further violate the TCPA by failing to have an operator on the line when the call is answered, and still further by playing a recorded message without an operator on the line. They also fail to provide a physical address and a phone number when asked, still further violating the TCPA. Their recording states that the victim has been selected to earn thousands of dollars every week, guaranteed, without having to sell or explain anything, but just by using the scammer's automated marketing system. This is clearly a pyramid scheme. Do not provide this scammer with any personal information.

This scammer calls numbers on the national do not call registry in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. They further violate the TCPA by failing to have an operator on the line when the call is answered, and still further by playing a recorded message without an operator on the line. They fail to provide a phone number and physical address when asked, yet further violating the TCPA. They continue to call numbers after being repeatedly asked to remove the number from their lists, yet further violating the TCPA. Their recording states that the victim has been selected to make at least $2,500 every week for just using the scammer's marketing system with nothing to sell and no complicated products to explain. This is clearly a pyramid scheme. Do not provide this scammer with any personal information.

They fail to provide a physical address and a phone number when asked, still further violating the TCPA. Their recording states that the victim has been selected to be trained to receive thousands of dollars every week just by using their marketing system with nothing to sell. Their recording also states that the victim can be removed at any time, which is clearly a lie, as after multiple requests, this scammer continues to repeatedly call. This is clearly a pyramid scheme. Do not provide this scammer with any personal information.
