I just got one of those calls and messages stating I had participated in a fraudulent activity and would be served papers at my place of work and or residence. I called the number back only to get this woman on the phone that refuse to give me any information on the name of the company she represents. She had all of my information, ie. social security number, etc. which is quite scary. I know the game they play and challenged her with calling to report her agency to my state Attorney General's office. She went ballistic and told me I didn't know what I was talking about, she is in my state and I can just wait to be served. Right then and there, I knew it was a scam. People who are legitimately requesting payment do not leave messages like that nor do they with hold pertinent information, like who they really are and where they are calling you from. I advise anyone that gets a call from these people to hang up immediately. Do not engage or give them any time or attention. If they keep calling, simply tell them to cease and desist from calling you. It is your legal right not to have people call you. Make sure you say, I am advising you to cease and desist from call me on any of my phone numbers about this matter.
