866-263-6459 is a BIG TIME COMPUTER SUPPORT SCAM. A part time employee at the office supply store where I bought my HP printer gave me this number as THE number for HP support. Where he got this number is a mystery for I was on the phone with him when he gave it to me. Anyway, I called them and they let me think that they were HP printer support and talked me into letting them on my system ( I know I am an idiot for that) and they found MAJOR security issues and wanted to sell me another anti virus package for $100. They said my printer was not working properly (it has a clogged print head) because of 'software issues' because everytime HP tried to update my printer it was stopped because of these security issues. I hesitated and said I need to call my anti virus provider first. My antivirus support person felt that the whole thing was very questionable. Now I don't know why but I still thought these guys were really HP because the dealer gave me the number, right? so I call them again and say, 'let's forget about the antivirus stuff and get to the clogged print head'. They shuffle me off to the next level of nonsense by giving me to a new guy who tries again with the security stuff saying I am infected with a virus from the late 1990's called 'Seven Dust'. He even has a bogus Wikipedia article that says this virus is so bad that the conventional anti virus packages out there now are helpless against it and 'we need to get an expensive network security package installed right away--and only G- - knows how much this is going to cost' me. I have very serious problems. Very serious. So serious, in fact, that the printer issue will never be fixed until we address this network security issue. I still don't bite and start to realize there is something wrong and hang up. I looked up Seven Dust and see it is almost 20 years old and started to realize that this is all nonsense. I wasted several hours with these worthy gentlemen and let them on my system as well. I called my anti virus provider and they downloaded a special program to search for any surprises that these guys may have left on my system. Still waiting to hear back on that. Bottom line: AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!! COMPLETE SCAM!! They also use the phone number 800 495 5132.
