I got the call on my cell phone, but did not have it on. My curiosity got to me and I called the 914-920-6551 number and talked with a man who said he was with Publisher's Clearing House, name of Michael Sharp(do not know if this is real or made up). He said I had won an unclaimed prize of $875,000, but would have to pay a 'registration fee' of $310. before I could get the check that would be brought to me at my door. I told him I cannot do that. Oh. He said to get this special kind of card, a moneypack card, kind of like a scratch card at either a CVS, Rite Aid, or Walgreens's. Just to research further, I went to the store with my husband, and the manager asked if he could ask some questions when I asked if they had that kind of card. I told him of my conversation with this man. He warned me not to get the card, as he suspects scam and in fact, he said they are 'trained' on calls like this that people receive. They are familiar with this type of scam. I will be reporting them to the Attorney General's office in Virginia, and maybe to the New York office of Consumer Affairs, if that is the proper name. Will have to research that too.
